Benefits by GreatdayHR

The first full-time job that led me to transition from an Engineer to a Designer was a remarkable experience. It brought me great joy to see that the design I created could genuinely make a positive impact on people’s live.

“I’ve had prior experience with fintech products, but at Benefits, they introduced something truly innovative. It was the first time I had ever encountered such a product, and it has the potential to be a game-changer in helping people with their financial planning.”

Benefits is an Earned Wage Access (EWA) fintech company created by GreatdayHR. It allows employees to access a portion of their salary before payday, and the amount is based on a prorate system.

First thing First!

My initial task was to bolster the application’s security. I quickly identified a significant vulnerability - there was no Know Your Customer (KYC) process during registration, which posed a substantial risk. As a solution, I proposed implementing a KYC procedure during onboarding to not only enhance security but also effectively manage the associated risks.

KYC is a crucial procedure consistently employed by financial institutions. Its primary purpose is to safeguard against fraud, corruption, money laundering, and terrorist financing.

The Result..

The Implementation of KYC yielded tremendous success. We effectively managed and mitigated the fraud committed by our customers. Furthermore, this measure enabled us to monitor and identify customers engaged in suspicious transactions, helping us uncover their true identities.

Impactful Contribution

Many events have unfolded, and I’ve been involved in designing numerous features. I’d like to highlight 2 significant achievements that have evolved from my initial ideas.

Claim & Reimburse

I observed that my colleagues were frequently seeking reimbursements from HR and it was evident that they needed approval from their supervisors. This observation motivated me to design this features.

How it works?

Every employee in our company has access to the Benefits app, which I implemented for the purpose of handling claims and reimbursements. When an employe wishes to make a claim or request reimbursement, they fill out a form, and once submitted, their supervisor and the HR department are notified to either approve or reject the claim. If it gets approved, the claimed amount is added to the Benefits balance, which they can withdraw at their convenience or automatically after the payday.

ps: I lost the screen shot hopefully you get the big picture

Repayment Dashboard

Another one was improving internal dashboard and adding a repayment menu. I collaborate closely with the Product Manager to bring this project to fruition.

How it works?

The primary goal of this dashboard is to assist our collection team in efficiently managing customer payments. Prior to its implementation, our collection team had to manually enter data into spreadsheets, which became increasingly challenging due to the large volume of data. We introduced the idea of the repayment menu, featuring a user-friendly visual table and filtering options. This has provided our collection team with a much clearer and organized view of companies with outstanding payments.

Leave with Legacy!

During the last three months of my contract, I found myself with a lot of free time and fewer tasks to handle. It was during this period that I took the initiative to start a redesign project, aiming to leave a lasting and positive legacy for my company.

With the green light from my Product Manager, I embarked on this solo project. I began by identifying the existing issues and areas for improvement within the current product. While evaluating the dashboard, I noticed issues with information clarity, particularly in the sidebar menu naming. There were instances where I found myself confused while navigating the dashboard. As for the mobile app, although it was functional, I saw room for enhancing both the visual design and user experience to ensure that the app was not only fully functional but also easily accessible with a single thumb.

And that’s a snapshot of what my day at Benefits looks like!
